Manchester United recorded an emphatic 2-1 win against neighbours Manchester City at the Etihad in the 195th Manchester derby.
United came from a goal down to beat the Pep Guardiola side.
Youngster Amad Diallo produced a special evening for himself after playing crucial parts in both goals for United.
Defender Gvadiol handed the host the lead in the 36th minute after Kevin DeBruyne’s cross was deflected off the shin of Amad to redirect the ball to favour the citizens.
United coach Rubén Amorim made three substitutions, bringing on Antony, Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee to forge for an equalizer.
Amad turned the table in the 88th minute after he met Ederson stranded in goal but was fouled by on-rushing Nunes inside the area for a penalty for United.
Captain Bruno Fernandes scored from the penalty, bringing the game level before Amad again showed his expertise by making a diagonal run inside the area to meet Lizandro Martinez’s looping ball.
The Ivorian was an inch-perfect when he slapped Ederson’s ball to smash home the winner in the dying minute of the game.
Coach Rubén Amorim made a decisive commitment to the game, dropping Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Gernacho. This gave Amad the chance to impress, and the 22-year-old did not fail by assisting the penalty and scoring the winner.
Manchester City continues in their worst era under Pep Guardiola as they have now recorded just one win in eleven games in all competitions, losing a whopping nine with a draw.
Amorim became the first Manchester United coach to win the Manchester derby after Sir Alex Ferguson and it happened in hostile territory as the Portuguese tactician added another win against Pep Guardiola after beating the Spaniard in the UEFA Champions League during his time as Sporting Lisbon coach.
“It was incredible. It was SIR ALEX FERGUSON time, I believe in it, something MAGIC happened”. Amorim said.
“I think we deserved it. It was a very tough match but we believed until the end. We managed to score, we needed that win, it was important for us and our fans”. He added.
