The authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced on Thursday that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah, the 12th month of the Islamic calendar, has been sighted.

With this sighting, tomorrow (Friday) will be the first day of Dhul Hijjah, the month during which Hajj takes place.

The five-day spiritual pilgrimage will begin on Friday, June 14.

The peak of Hajj, known as Arafat Day, will be observed on June 15, followed by Eid Adha (Eid-ul-Kabir), the Feast of Sacrifice, on June 16.

Inside the Haramain, the official news publication for the two holy mosques in Makkah and Madinah, confirmed the sighting on their X handle, @insharifain, stating: “The Crescent for the month of Dhul Hijjah 1445 was SEEN today. Consequently, the month of Dhul Hijjah 1445 will begin tomorrow, Friday, 7 June 2024. *Hajj Day (Arafat): Saturday, 15 June 2024 *Eid Al Adha: Sunday, 16 June 2024.”
