In the wake of the political turmoil in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu has taken a firm stance on neutrality, as communicated by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. The message is clear: the President will not favor any party in the ongoing conflict. This declaration comes amid escalating tensions involving the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, and other key figures.
The crisis, which has seen a sharp division between state- level political factions, has prompted calls for the President’ s intervention.
However, Ngelale, during an interview, emphasized that President Tinubu is committed to impartiality, stating, ” I believe that anyone who believes that by their actions, whether it’ s from the Federal level, State level or the legislative branch in the State or the executive branch in the state, if they are banking on Mr. President to take sides on this matter, they’ re mistaking and they’ ll be disappointed.
The crisis has not only drawn the attention of the Presidency but also the youth of Rivers State. They have urged President Tinubu to call Minister Wike to order, highlighting the need for peace and stability in the region. The youths, under the banner of Sim Media Volunteers (SMV), have expressed their concerns in Port Harcourt, seeking the President’ s decisive action to quell the unrest.
