In his final match for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Kylian Mbappe expressed his pride in leaving the club “with his head held high” after securing victory in the French Cup final.

PSG triumphed over Lyon with a 2-1 win, although Mbappe did not score in the match. With his contract now expired, he is expected to join Real Madrid, although no official announcement has been made yet.

Reflecting on the final, Mbappe stated, “To finish with a trophy in a final, there is no better way. It feels really good.”

He emphasized that he will reveal his future club at the appropriate time, indicating that an announcement will likely be made in the coming days. Despite leaving PSG, Mbappe expressed his focus on ending his time with the club on a high note.

While he did not find the net in the final, Mbappe leaves PSG with an impressive record of 256 goals in 308 appearances, making him the club’s all-time leading goal scorer. PSG secured the victory with goals from Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz, with Lyon’s Jake O’Brien scoring a consolation goal in the second half.

Having won the domestic league and cup double, PSG concludes the season with notable success under the guidance of coach Luis Enrique.

Mbappe’s departure marks the end of his memorable seven-year tenure with PSG, during which he clinched six Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, and two League Cups. He also played a pivotal role in helping PSG reach the Champions League final in 2020.

Reflecting on his time at PSG, Mbappe expressed his gratitude, stating, “There are only good memories, and now I can go out with my head held high, with a trophy as well, so I will only remember the positives.”

The forward admitted that he experienced a mix of emotions before the final, knowing it would be his last game for the club.

Despite the nostalgia and the realization that his PSG journey would come to an end, Mbappe found the experience both challenging and enjoyable.

As he prepares to join the French national team for Euro 2024, Mbappe’s focus remains on the future.

The talented footballer leaves PSG with a sense of accomplishment, ready to embark on a new chapter in his career.
