Troops Neutralise Six Terrorists In Kaduna, Arrest Collaborators
Troops from the One Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Operation Whirl Punch, have successfully neutralized six terrorists and apprehended three suspects during a series of special operations in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. This significant achievement was detailed in a statement released by Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.
According to Aruwan, the operations were initiated following credible intelligence reports regarding terrorist activities in the region. Acting on this intelligence, the troops launched a special fighting patrol aimed at the Galadimawa area within Giwa LGA. The operation began with the troops establishing an initial position in Sabon Sara village. It was here they encountered a herd of rustled cattle, which had been abandoned by insurgents who fled the scene in haste. The troops managed to recover the cattle and safely returned them to the local residents before advancing further.
The critical moment of the operation occurred when the troops arrived at the Market Square in Galadimawa, where they spotted the insurgents. A swift and decisive exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the neutralization of six terrorists. In the aftermath, the troops conducted a thorough search of the market area, which led to the arrest of three individuals suspected of collaborating with and providing logistical support to the terrorist elements. In addition to the arrests, the troops also seized two motorcycles and four mobile phones.
Upon receiving the report, the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, expressed his commendation for the troops’ efforts. He lauded the leadership of Major General Mayirenso Saraso, the General Officer Commanding One Division of the Nigerian Army and the Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, for the successful operation. Governor Sani emphasized the importance of continuing to dismantle criminal networks and urged the security forces to conduct thorough investigations to identify and eliminate additional threats.
The Kaduna State Government also appealed to residents in frontline communities to actively participate in security efforts by providing timely intelligence to the nearest security formations. They can also report any suspicious activities to the 24-hour Security Operations Room through the following phone numbers: 09034000060 and 08170189999. Furthermore, the government issued a stern warning to informants who assist terrorists by providing information about the movements of security forces and civilians. These individuals are being closely monitored and will be prosecuted diligently.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army and state security agencies to combat terrorism and enhance the safety and security of Kaduna State. The government’s appeal for community support underscores the critical role of local intelligence in achieving sustained peace and security in the region.
