Benjamin Apeh, a landlord, tragically passed away after collapsing during a heated argument with his tenant over unpaid rent.

SP Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer for the Ogun Police Command, announced the incident on Tuesday in Abeokuta. The altercation occurred on Sunday at Arigbabu Village in the Sotubo area of Sagamu, Ogun State.

According to Odutola, a murder case was reported on Monday at 5:00 p.m. by the landlord’s daughter, Precious Apeh.

Precious told the police that her father had confronted the tenant about unpaid rent at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday. The argument continued early Sunday morning around 6:30 a.m., during which the tenant allegedly threatened to kill her father.

During this confrontation, Benjamin Apeh collapsed and was taken to NNPC Hospital in Mosimi, where doctors later confirmed his death. The tenant fled the scene, but police are actively searching for the suspect.

The landlord’s body has been taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital Morgue in Sagamu.
