The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company has announced the successful repair of 54 faulty power transformers across various communities in Oyo, Osun, Ogun, and other areas.
According to a statement released on Monday, Mr. Francis Agoha, the Acting Managing Director of the company, revealed that these repair operations were conducted utilizing the resources of the IBEDC Transformer Maintenance Workshop, which was established in March 2023.
Agoha mentioned that the initiative aims to tackle the numerous complaints regarding faulty transformers, which have resulted in many customers experiencing power outages and have negatively impacted their livelihoods.
He emphasized that the workshop, situated in Eleyele, Ibadan, underscores the resourcefulness of local talents and the efficient utilization of indigenous resources to minimize supply interruptions. Agoha highlighted that these interruptions have had significant adverse effects on both businesses and communities.
He also pointed out that since its establishment, the workshop has effectively revitalized more than 54 transformers, bringing light to numerous communities and ensuring a more reliable electricity supply.
He emphasized that the primary goal is to enhance the efficiency of their operations and reduce downtime caused by faulty transformers.
