Several people have reportedly been injured in a clash between some youths and hoodlums at the Ile-Epo in Alimosho LGA of Lagos state for an undisclosed matter.
The fight started in the market situated in the area on Wednesday night May 1st and continued till Thursday morning, May 2nd.
Some shops were set on fire while some goods were destroyed in the process.
Gunshots were heard, commotions everywhere.
It was gathered that an early intervention by the police was restricted by the hoodlums.
A fire service truck that drove into the market this morning was also forced to reverse after being pelted with stones.
Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson of the police in the state, said about 50 persons had been arrested, and normalcy had been restored in the market.
The cause of the crisis was yet to be known, but there are speculations that it emanated from two sides of the hoodlums who had won some sports betting money.
The Lagos state government has issued severe statements to warn against violence in the state and taken steps to ensure peace.
