According to Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Adenoyin was detained on Wednesday during a routine check by the Police Safer Highway Patrol at the Isua/Epinmi checkpoint.
The incident occurred on June 10, 2024, around 8 a.m., when patrol officers stopped a Nissan Salon car bound for Akure. During the search, a passenger attempted to flee but was swiftly captured. Upon inspecting his belongings, officers discovered eight dry human skulls, fresh human flesh, and various charms concealed in a polythene bag inside a garri sack.
Adenoyin, 31, admitted he was transporting the items to herbalists and had previously supplied seven human skulls before his capture. The police are continuing their investigation to identify and apprehend his accomplices.
In a separate development, the police also arrested three individuals connected to a robbery in Akure, the state capital. The suspects, identified as Uche Onu, Ekene Okorie, and Celestine Eze, were nabbed through intelligence efforts and have confessed to their involvement in the crime.
