The bodies of two male National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were discovered in a bush in Edo State on the morning of June 13th, 2024. The corps members, whose identities have not yet been released by authorities, were found in a remote area near the outskirts of the city.
According to initial reports, local residents alerted the police after stumbling upon the bodies while foraging for firewood. Law enforcement officers promptly arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area for investigation. Preliminary examinations suggest the men may have been deceased for at least 24 hours before their discovery.
NYSC authorities have also been notified and are cooperating with the police to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The Edo State government has called for calm and patience from the public as investigations proceed. Governor Godwin Obaseki expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and urged anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation.
