Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has assured Nigerians that the positive effects of the recent economic reforms implemented by the Tinubu administration will soon be evident.
In an interview with Arise TV during Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration at the Eagle’s Square, Abuja, on Wednesday, June 12, Edun explained that new funding initiatives are being introduced to boost market activity and economic stability.
“There is hope for better days to come. We are on the right track. We have turned the economy around and now the benefits are about to be felt by Nigerians. That is the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he stated.

Edun highlighted the administration’s efforts in food distribution and direct payments to individuals, which are expected to benefit 75 million Nigerians. He emphasized the integrity and transparency of this process, aiming to ensure that the funds reach those in need effectively.
He elaborated, “Food distribution is underway, and in addition to that, we have revamped and started direct payments to individuals to cover 75 million Nigerians at the end of the day, and that process has integrity, transparency, and visibility.”
Edun acknowledged past inefficiencies but reassured the public that current measures are being implemented to ensure a smooth and effective rollout of resources. “And it’s just a question of speeding it up, scaling it up. We know that before it was not what it should have been but it was stopped in the interest of integrity.
But now, funding is being rolled out that will allow people to take money to go to the market and buy,” he said.
He also underscored the importance of focusing on food production as a key area for immediate improvement. “And at the same time, there is tremendous focus on food production. That is the key area to focus on now because the economy has been put on track. People must feel it and must feel it soon,” he added.
Edun concluded by affirming President Tinubu’s commitment to these initiatives, highlighting his grassroots connection and dedication to improving the lives of Nigerians. “And Mr. President is aware of that and committed to that, he’s a man of the people, he’s from the grassroots,” he affirmed.
