Burna Boy, the Nigerian singer whose full name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has reached significant milestones with his ‘I Told Them’ tour in Canada.
According to Touring Data, as of June 13, 2024, he grossed $5.7 million from selling 69,219 tickets across six concerts, making it the highest-grossing tour by an African artist in Canada.
Additionally, he set a record for the most expensive concert by an African artist, with an average ticket price of $172.76 at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood on March 12 during the same tour. These achievements highlight Burna Boy’s growing influence and popularity on the international music scene.
Burna Boy’s achievements in 2024 have solidified his position as a leading African artist on the global stage. In February, he made history by being the first African artist to headline and sell out the 19,000-capacity Scotiabank Arena in Canada on two consecutive nights, February 24 and 25.
Earlier in the year, he became the first African artist to perform at the main ceremony of the Grammys, joining 21 Savage and Brandy for a performance of his hit single “Sittin’ On Top Of The World.”
Moreover, Burna Boy became the first Nigerian artist to receive a Grammy nomination outside the global categories. His single “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” was nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance at the 66th Grammys.
