On Saturday, approximately 65,000 Nigerian pilgrims joined Muslims from around the world to observe Arafat Day at Muna, Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

They gathered at the plain of Arafat to perform a central Hajj ritual. This rite at Mount Arafat, also known as the Hill of Mercy, is considered the pinnacle of the Hajj pilgrimage.

For many pilgrims, this experience is the most memorable, as they stand shoulder to shoulder, feet to feet, seeking mercy, blessings, prosperity, and good health from Almighty Allah. Mount Arafat is located about 20 kilometers southeast of Mecca.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, pilgrims marched to Arafat under comprehensive security arrangements coordinated by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and Saudi authorities.

Security personnel ensured the smooth flow of both vehicles and pedestrians by securing routes and implementing transportation and dispatch plans.They also provided guidance and ensured the safety of the pilgrims.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both NAHCON officials and Saudi authorities provided numerous services in the Arafat area.

These services include medical care, emergency response, and food provisions, catering to the needs of pilgrims who have traveled from around the world to fulfill the fifth pillar of Islam.

Addressing the pilgrims, Dr. Abdallah Gadonkaya urged Nigerian pilgrims to use the opportunity of Arafat to seek divine forgiveness and solutions to their challenges.

He also encouraged the pilgrims to pray for the restoration of peace and economic prosperity in parts of Nigeria facing security issues

Dr. Gadonkaya emphasized the importance of good conduct and behavior to positively project the image of Nigeria.
