Miss Modupe Ayandare, a student at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), was found dead on Monday after attending a church vigil.
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the university announced the death of Ayandare, a member of the Department of Agronomy.
“We convey our deep unhappiness and grief at the loss of one of our students, Miss Modupe Ayandare of the Department of Agronomy.
“According to reports, the deceased committed suicide about 4:00 a.m. today, after returning from a vigil at her church.
“The incident happened beside the church she attended, around Spotless Villa.”The law enforcement agency has already been notified, and all hands are on deck to investigate the matter.
“Be assured that justice will be served, and the law enforcement agency will conduct a thorough investigation,” said Mr. Emmanuel Olaogbebikan, the SUG’s Public Relations Officer (PRO).
He encouraged anyone with helpful information on the event to come forward to the appropriate authorities.
The Nigerian Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS), AAUA Chapter, also expressed sadness at the student’s death, stating that the loss had a significant impact on the department.
Mr Faith Igba, the agency’s public relations officer, stated that Ayandare’s death was a significant loss for the department.
Igba asked the department’s members to band together and aid one another, encouraging anyone facing difficulties to seek assistance.
“During this tough moment, we ask everyone to band together and support one another. Our members’ mental health is extremely important to us, and we encourage anyone who is experiencing difficulties to get help.
“Our faculty provides counselling services, and we are available to help you in any manner we can.
