There was turmoil in the Ewehko community, part of Maro Ward in Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna, due to a bandit attack that resulted in the deaths of five villagers.
The villagers were attending a local meeting when they were attacked and killed. Photos of the victims and their burnt motorcycles were obtained. According to local sources, the attack occurred around 2:14 pm on Monday. The bandits set fire to the motorcycles of some victims during the raid.
A resident named Benjamin Maro reported that five bodies were recovered from the scene. “Today, our community faced a terrible event. In broad daylight, bandits attacked Ewehko, also known as Unguwar Paul, in Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State,” he said. “The attack happened around 2:14 pm on June 17, 2024. So far, we have found the bodies of four men and one woman. We are still searching the surrounding bushes for more missing persons.”
Another resident, Reuben Maro, mentioned that houses were also set on fire, along with the victims’ motorcycles.
“The bandits attacked the villagers in broad daylight. Despite the remoteness of the village, about six people were killed,” he said.
The State Government and the Police Command have not yet issued statements about the incident. The State Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached by phone and has not responded to a text message.
