In a show of solidarity, leaders from the southern regions of Nigeria have come forward to support the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and urge President Bola Tinubu to ignore the political detractors attempting to hinder Wike’s progress. The Citizens Network for Peace and Development in Nigeria (CNPDN), a group comprising these leaders, has praised Wike’s exceptional performance during his nine-month tenure as FCT Minister, noting that he has achieved more in this short period than some of his predecessors did in eight years.

Chief Raphael Okorie, the national coordinator of the southern movement, appealed to Nigerians to have patience with President Tinubu as he endeavors to fix the economy, restore security, and provide relief to all citizens. Okorie emphasized that Wike has shown immense dedication and resilience in the face of distractions, such as the ongoing crisis in Rivers State, and remains focused on developing Abuja.

Throughout his tenure, Wike has successfully transformed the FCT, tackling the longstanding issue of insecurity head-on. Within six months, he has made significant strides in ensuring the safety of the entire territory, although work remains. The southern leaders expressed their unwavering support for Wike’s efforts and encouraged him to disregard any attempts to divert him from his goals, particularly those aimed at hindering the replication of his remarkable achievements in Rivers State.

The CNPDN members have taken the time to evaluate the performance of both President Tinubu’s administration and Wike’s tenure as FCT Minister. They believe that Nigeria is on the path to recovery, citing rapid infrastructure development, a stabilizing economy, and increased foreign direct investment as evidence of progress. They commend the government’s efforts in fostering an environment conducive to economic growth and encouraging local content development.

Chief Okorie extended their appreciation to President Tinubu for appointing Wike as the Minister of the Nation’s capital, Abuja. They lauded Wike’s unprecedented performance, courage, determination, and output during his nine months in office. Before his appointment, insecurity plagued the FCT, but under Wike’s leadership, the territory has become relatively safe, instilling optimism that complete safety will soon be achieved.

The CNPDN called on President Tinubu to ignore those seeking to distract Wike from delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda. They urged the residents of the FCT to unite and support Wike in his endeavors. With the backing of southern leaders and the continued support of President Tinubu, Wike’s efforts to bolster security, promote development, and drive progress in Abuja are expected to flourish.

The southern leaders’ endorsement of Wike’s performance and unwavering support for his initiatives serve as a testament to the potential for positive change within the FCT under his leadership. As Nigeria moves forward, the collaborative efforts of its leaders are vital in ensuring the fulfillment of the Renewed Hope Agenda and the betterment of the nation as a whole.
