The Delta State Police Command has apprehended two robbery suspects in Aladja Community, Udu Local Government Area.

SP Bright Edafe, the command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed the arrests on Tuesday in Warri.

Edafe stated that the suspects were captured by the Aladja police sub-station operatives. According to him, the police received a distress call reporting an armed robbery in progress in Aladja community.

“The District Officer, along with community members, mobilized to the scene where the suspects were apprehended at Igwere Quarters, Aladja,” Edafe said. “One locally-made gun, cartridges, a knife, and a suspected stolen phone were recovered from them.”

He added that the suspects are currently in police custody and that the investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident, Edafe reported that operatives on special assignment in Ughelli arrested a suspected cultist. The suspect, described as a “notorious cultist,” was detained on Friday.

“Acting on credible intelligence regarding arms peddling and a planned cult clash in Oteri Community, Ughelli North, operatives led by ASP Julius Robinson tracked a notorious cultist and mastermind of the planned clash to a hotel in Ughelli,” Edafe explained. “The suspect, a member of the Eiye Confraternity, was arrested.”

“During interrogation, the suspect led operatives to his residence where a Beretta pistol was recovered,” he added.

Edafe confirmed that the investigation into this matter is also ongoing.
