Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, the esteemed mother of former Senate President Bukola Saraki, has passed away. The prominent matriarch of the Saraki family died on Tuesday, as confirmed by the former Senate President.
Bukola Saraki, who also held the position of governor of Kwara State from 2003 to 2011, expressed his deep sorrow in an official statement. He said: “With profound sadness and complete submission to the will of Almighty God, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and family matriarch, Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki. She peacefully transitioned from this life today (yesterday).
“Details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in due course. “We appreciate your love, prayers, and support as we mourn Mama’s passing.” Her other children include Senator Gbemisola Saraki, Temitope Edu, and Olaolu Saraki.
The late Florence Saraki celebrated her 87th birthday on August 8, 2022, at her residence on Cameron Street in Ikoyi, Lagos State. She passed away just a few weeks shy of her 89th birthday.
Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ajikobi Central Ward, the former Senate President’s constituency, has expressed their condolences and mourned her passing.
Chairman of the ward, Comrade Abubakar Yusuf Garba, expressed his condolences in a statement: “We share in the grief and sorrow that comes with the loss of a matriarch, a pillar of strength, and a guiding light. Chief (Mrs.) Florence Morenike Saraki was an exemplary woman, a devoted wife, and a dedicated mother who left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she touched.
Her unwavering support and dedication to her family, particularly her husband, the late Dr. Olusola Saraki, and her children, are a testament to her selflessness and devotion.”
