Abbas responded to the serious allegations made by Kwankwaso, who accused the former administration of supporting Boko Haram terrorists and misleading the Federal Government to destabilize the state.
Kwankwaso made these claims during a speech at the commencement of an 85-kilometre road construction project in his hometown of Madobi community. He alleged that the previous administration had a hand in nurturing Boko Haram and using deceptive tactics to undermine the stability of the state.
In response, Abbas urged security agencies to arrest Kwankwaso so he could identify those he referred to as enemies working against the state. Abbas stressed that no threats from Kwankwaso would be enough to intimidate the federal government. “We strongly urge security agents to arrest him so he can reveal the identities of those he claims are collaborating with the federal government to recruit Boko Haram terrorists and insurgents,” he said.
Abbas went on to accuse the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) of having ulterior motives aimed at causing unrest in Kano. He expressed concerns about the party’s intentions, suggesting that they were designed to create instability within the state.
“Kwankwaso has been a long-standing security threat to Kano and the nation due to his history and actions. He leads a movement that has been widely accused of recruiting young people, mostly school dropouts, to unleash terror on the residents of the state,” Abbas alleged. He painted a picture of a deliberate attempt to destabilize the region by involving vulnerable youth in violent activities.
Abbas also pointed out that since Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was installed as Emir, there has been a noticeable increase in the recruitment of armed thugs. He claimed that these thugs are stationed at the emir’s palace, where various illicit substances are openly sold, posing a significant threat to the safety of residents in the area. Abbas expressed serious concern over the presence of these thugs and the illegal activities happening within and around the emir’s palace, indicating a decline in law and order.
Reiterating the need for decisive action from security agencies to address these issues, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability and security in the state. Abbas called for a thorough investigation into Kwankwaso’s allegations and the actions of those involved in these destabilizing activities, urging a united effort to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in Kano.
