Kogi Government Enhances Security With Recruitment Of 1,050 Youths Into Security Service

The Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) has complimented the Kogi government for recruiting 1,050 young men and women to strengthen the state’s security.

Dr. Joshua Osatimehin, Commandant-General of NHFSS, made this declaration on Thursday in Abuja.

Osatimehin stated that the recruiting will go a long way toward strengthening the government’s commitment to cope with the issues of terror attacks, banditry, abduction, cattle rustling, and other criminal activities in the state.

He stated that Ododo indicated that he meant business when he recently issued all criminal elements notice to depart the state.

According to him, the recruitment of 1.050 state indigenes into the NHFSS will guarantee that criminal elements operating in the state’s wooded regions are finally flushed out.

Speaking on the development, Amb. John Metchie, Deputy Commander General of NHFSS, Technical Services, praised the speaker and members of the Kogi State House of Assembly for their swift approval of the governor’s bill.

Metchie praised them as real people’s representatives who were dedicated to the state’s security, peace, and overall well-being.

He also took use of the occasion to urge other state governments to follow in the footsteps of Kogi, Ondo, Ebonyi, Kebbi, Borno, and others who are actively collaborating with the NHFSS.

On Wednesday, the Kogi State House of Assembly authorized the recruitment, which aims to bolster the state’s security architecture.

Gov. Usman Ododo had earlier sent a letter to the assembly asking clearance for the recruitment of 50 persons from each of the state’s 21 Local Government Areas.

After reading the letter, Speaker Aliyu Yusuf stated that the parliamentarians had already agreed that there was a need for recruitment hunts in the NHFSS due to the state’s security concerns and manpower scarcity.

In a voice vote, the MPs unanimously authorized the hiring of 1050 hunters, noting that their salaries will be covered by the appropriate Local Government.
