Tragedy struck today at a construction site in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, when a bricklayer fell from a building while on the job. The incident occurred around 8:30 AM at a multi-story residential building under construction.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bricklayer, identified as 28-year-old Oyedele, was working on the third floor when he lost his balance and plummeted to the ground. Fellow workers rushed to his aid and quickly called emergency services.

Oyedele was immediately transported to Osun State General Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Hospital sources indicate that he sustained multiple fractures but is in a stable condition.

The construction site has been temporarily shut down as officials from the Osun State Ministry of Works and Transport conduct an investigation into the accident. Preliminary findings suggest that inadequate safety measures may have contributed to the fall.

The building contractor, who spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed shock and pledged full cooperation with the investigation. “We prioritize safety on our sites and will ensure such an accident does not happen again,” he stated.
