Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, has swiftly responded to allegations made by the group “Defenders of Democracy” regarding his alleged plans to cripple the business investments of former governor Samuel Ortom in the state.
The group claimed that Governor Alia’s administration was planning to raid and shut down all companies under Oracle Business Limited, founded by the former governor, through the use of security personnel and spurious allegations.
In response, Governor Alia’s Technical Adviser on Media Publicity and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, clarified that the present administration is focused on promoting the growth of small-scale enterprises to boost the state’s economy.
However, he emphasized that any misappropriation of funds or discrepancies in governance will be thoroughly investigated, and if traced to anyone’s business accounts, appropriate action will be taken to recover the funds.
The governor’s media aide urged the group to provide evidence and documents to support their claim of business crippling, stating that the government operates based on facts rather than mere declarations. He emphasized that the governor’s priority is the administration of the state and ensuring accountability.
Governor Alia’s administration aims to encourage the flourishing of businesses that add value to the state’s economy, while also holding everyone accountable for their actions. Any misuse of public funds will be thoroughly investigated, regardless of the individual’s past position.
