The All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted electronic registration (e-registration) to accurately ascertain the number of its members nationwide.

This was disclosed by Mr. Suleiman Argungu, the National Organising Secretary of the party, during a courtesy visit by Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, the National Director of the APC Professional Women Council, on Tuesday in Abuja.

Argungu mentioned that previous reports between 2022 and 2023 about the party’s membership numbers were not consistent with the election results, particularly the presidential election.

To address this discrepancy, the APC has embraced e-registration to ensure an accurate count of its members in each ward, local government, and across the 36 states of the Federation.

He emphasized the importance of organizations like the APC Professional Women Council, stating that the party encourages such groups to enhance their efforts.

Argungu noted that the visit would help the National Working Committee understand the challenges faced by the party at all levels and urged women to mobilize for the upcoming e-registration.

“You mentioned that men are more numerous during primary elections. Therefore, when it comes to primaries, you must mobilize to have a substantial number to emerge victorious. I encourage you to mobilize a number of women that we will be proud of; our purpose of going for e-registration is because of our experience,” Argungu stated.

Mrs. Ronke Soyombo called for increased involvement of women in the upcoming governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states.

She urged the party to include women in key committees for these elections, highlighting that the APC Professional Women Council has capable members who can serve in critical roles. Soyombo also mentioned the group’s support for women at the grassroots level.
