In a tragic incident this evening, a car knocked down a woman, believed to be mentally ill, in the town of Ekpoma. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM along Ujoelen Road.
Eyewitnesses reported that the woman, who is well-known in the area for her erratic behavior, was wandering aimlessly on the road when the speeding car struck her. Despite efforts by bystanders to alert the driver, the collision was unavoidable.
The driver of the car, visibly shaken, immediately stopped and tried to assist the injured woman. She was quickly rushed to the nearby Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. Her condition remains critical.
