The Action People’s Party (APP) has expressed deep concern over the lack of response from key security agencies following a deadly blast during a protest march in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The opposition party has criticized the National Security Adviser, Inspector General of Police, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, and the Department of State Service for their silence, stating that it reflects poorly on the President Bola Tinubu-led government.

During a press briefing, Comrade Achilike A of the APP highlighted the need for action against the masterminds and perpetrators of the violent incident.

The party emphasized that while Governor Sim Fubara is responsible for the security of Rivers State, the power to command the NSA, Police, and DSS lies with President Tinubu as the commander-in-chief.

The APP expressed its concern over the prolonged silence of the security agencies since the explosion, which resulted in the death of one person and left several others injured.

The party believes that the inaction of these agencies not only emboldens the alleged Wike supporters but also tarnishes the image of the Tinubu-led government, suggesting a lack of regard for the security and welfare of Nigerians nationwide.

As an opposition party, the APP emphasized its role in holding the government and political parties accountable.

It called on President Tinubu to fulfill his constitutional duty of ensuring the security and welfare of the people by directing the heads of security agencies to take immediate action in securing Rivers State and apprehending those responsible for the incident.

The APP concluded by urging President Tinubu to act swiftly, as doing so would enhance his image and reinforce the perception that he is a leader capable of protecting the lives and well-being of the Nigerian people.
