The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) reported significant achievements in Operation Lake Sanity 2, highlighting the successful elimination of over 70 terrorists and the destruction of their logistical bases in the Lake Chad Basin area.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, MNJTF’s Chief Military Public Information Officer, the operation targeted terrorist camps on islands across Cameroon and Nigeria’s Lake Chad territories. The troops conducted precise strikes that resulted in the deaths of many terrorists and forced others to flee into Chad.
The recent actions included the destruction of eight vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) in Arinna Ciki and the dismantling of two ammunition bunkers northeast of Malam Fatori. Sector 2, supported by the Chadian Rapid Intervention Force, played a crucial role in these operations, dealing a severe blow to the retreating terrorists.
The MNJTF expressed gratitude to the Chadian Armed Forces for their vital cooperation and support in combating terrorism. They also acknowledged the contributions of other participating countries, such as Cameroon’s Operation Emergence 4, Nigeria’s Operation Hadin Kai, and Niger’s Sector 4, which significantly contributed to the success of Operation Lake Sanity 2.
Emphasizing their ongoing commitment, the MNJTF affirmed their dedication to eradicating terrorism and restoring peace in the Lake Chad Basin. They pledged continued collaboration with partners to achieve and maintain this crucial objective.
