The Zamfara State House of Assembly has approved a six-month extension to the tenure of local government council interim administrators in the state.
The extension was approved after presentation of a report by Special Commitee led by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Adamu Gummi which was mandated to screen the interim administrators before their confirmation.
All fourteen local government interim administrators before the committee during the screening process indicates a commitment to transparency and accountability in governance.
By having all administrators present, the committee can assess each individual’s capabilities, track record, and vision for their respective local government areas.
Thepaan recalls that Governor Dauda LÃ wal had on April 24, 2024 sent a communication through the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, seeking the jod of the House to extend the tenure of the administrators by six by months.
Upon receiving the Governor’s letter, the House extended invitations to all 14 interim administrators for screening.
The House’s proactive engagement in vetting these candidates demonstrates their commitment to upholding good governance practices and promoting qualified leadership within the public sector.
The Speaker, Honourable Bilyaminu Moriki, announced the unanimous approval of the House and confirmation of extension of the 14 Local government interim administrators for another six months as requested by Governor Lawal.
Hon. Moriki emphasized the critical importance of ensuring justice and fair play to the people in their respective LGAs.
He charged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by upholding these principles, these leaders can build trust, foster inclusivity, and create a more just and equitable society for all.
