Sophia Momodu has filed a counter affidavit through her legal team in response to a lawsuit by Nigerian musician David Adeleke, also known as Davido, regarding the custody of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke.

In June 2024, reports surfaced that Davido had initiated a lawsuit seeking a court order for joint custody of their daughter, Imade, and unrestricted access to her.

In the lawsuit, Davido alleged that Momodu had demanded he pay the nanny she hired a monthly salary of $800, which amounts to $19,600 annually, a sum he considered excessive.

Additionally, Davido claimed that Momodu had consistently treated him with cruelty and caused him significant emotional distress.

In a statement released by her lawyers, Sophia denied Davido’s allegations, clarifying that she had not denied him access to their daughter but had only denied him access to her own body, leading him to cut off contact with their daughter as a result.

Sophia formally responded by filing a counter affidavit through her legal team, Dr. Anthony Idigbe SAN of Punuka Attorneys and Dr. Bimpe Ajegbomogun.

The affidavit, filed on April 17, 2024, under suit number LD/1587PMC/2024, lists Davido as the applicant and Sophia Momodu as the respondent, signaling the start of a legal battle over the child’s custody.

The next hearing is scheduled for today, Friday, July 5, 2024.
