A 34-year-old security guard, identified as Henry Musa, who allegedly sold a vehicle entrusted to him, has been arrested in Awka, Anambra State.

He then fled from the South-Eastern state to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, and eventually to Dikko in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State, along the Kaduna-Abuja Highway.

He was arrested by police operatives attached to the Sabon-Wuse Division of the Niger State Police Command.

A press statement issued by SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Niger State Police Command, and made available to journalists on Friday in Minna, confirmed the arrest of the suspect.

According to the statement, “On 02/7/2024 at about 0830hrs, based on credible information received, police operatives attached to the Sabon-Wuse Division arrested one Henry Musa, 34, of Awka, Anambra State, with a Toyota Camry vehicle marked LND 851 CJ, suspected to have been stolen.”

The statement added that the suspect was found at Dikko, along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in the Tafa area of Niger State, with duplicate copies of the vehicle’s documents, intending to sell the vehicle.

SP Wasiu Abiodun further stated that police operatives from the division were quickly mobilized to the area, and the suspect was taken into custody along with the vehicle.

During interrogation, Musa allegedly confessed that he was a security guard at a hotel in Awka and that the vehicle’s key had been entrusted to him by the owner. He decided to take the vehicle to Dikko to dispose of it.

Wasiu Abiodun assured that the suspect is still under investigation and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution once the investigation is concluded.
