The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed unwavering confidence in the face of recent misinterpretations surrounding the court ruling on its primary election and candidate,

Asue Ighodalo. Speaking at the inaugural meeting of the National Campaign Council for the Edo State Governorship Election, the PDP’s National Legal Adviser, Barr. Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), clarified that the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment affirms the party’s belief that its candidate emerged through a credible process, dispelling any concerns.

Ajibade acknowledged the surprise that ensued when news broke that the PDP’s governorship primary was allegedly annulled and its candidate disqualified. However, he clarified that the court did not nullify their primary.

The case before the court revolved around the issue of delegates, which the court deemed as internal party affairs. Ajibade emphasized that such matters can only be challenged in court by individuals who have participated in the party’s primary, a scenario that the PDP has previously encountered.

Highlighting the progress made, Ajibade revealed that out of the eight cases in Edo, seven have already been concluded. He attributed the legal challenges to the popularity of the party, stating that contention is a normal occurrence when a party gains prominence. To reassure the campaign council members, Ajibade encouraged them to examine the CTC of the judgment, assuring them that their candidate remains steadfast.

In his address of welcome, Chairman of the Campaign Council and Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, emphasized the significance of the upcoming election and urged committee members to prepare diligently for the task ahead.

Fintiri acknowledged the challenging nature of the task and emphasized the need for commitment from all involved. He cited Governor Obaseki’s commendable track record as a reason to believe in the success of the PDP in the Edo state election.

Fintiri stressed that winning the election requires unwavering dedication. As politicians, the committee members understand the importance of victory, and their primary aim is to secure success for the party. The meeting aimed to discuss the nitty-gritty details and strategize for their triumph. The secretary would split them into committees to facilitate a smoother implementation of their plans.

Fintiri called upon party leaders from Edo State to join forces with the candidate and the committee in order to ensure a successful campaign and election. The collaboration and collective effort of all party members are crucial for achieving their goals.

The PDP’s resolute stance and determination to forge ahead, despite the challenges faced, demonstrate their unwavering commitment to participating in the democratic process and securing victory in the Edo State Governorship Election.
