A tragic altercation at a local tap in Sokoto’s Gidan Dare community this morning has resulted in the death of a young woman.
The incident, which occurred around 8:45 AM, began as a dispute between two young ladies fetching water.
According to eyewitnesses, the argument quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. In the heat of the moment, one of the women violently smashed the other’s head against a nearby pavement.
The victim, whose identity has yet to be disclosed, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Local authorities arrived shortly after the incident, but the assailant had already fled. The Sokoto State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.
Residents of Gidan Dare are in shock over the incident, with many calling for increased security measures and conflict resolution programs in the community.
