A man has been arrested by operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command for possession of human body parts in the Lugbe area of Abuja.
In a statement issued to newsmen on Wednesday, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, quoted FCT Commissioner of Police, Bennett Igweh.
He said, “On July 9, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to Iddo Police Division, acting on credible intelligence, trailed and arrested one Nuhu Ezra of Gosa Kipikipi village, Lugbe, Abuja. He was found in possession of a human skull and bones.”
Upon interrogation, the suspect claimed he picked up the body parts from the bush while hunting in Kuje and intended to sell them for six hundred thousand naira (N600,000).
Commissioner of Police Bennett C. Igweh has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the origin of the body parts, identify the intended buyer, ascertain whether the suspect killed anyone to obtain the body parts, and establish how long the suspect has been involved in this illicit trade.
