In a startling revelation, former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, has shed light on the hidden truth behind the reign of ex-military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, IBB.

According to Osoba, Babangida was held hostage by the very individuals who aided him in toppling his predecessor, General Muhammadu Buhari.

The coup that saw Babangida overthrow Buhari in 1985 involved the late Sani Abacha, Aliyu Gusau, and other key figures.

However, Osoba discloses that Babangida confided in him and fellow journalists, revealing that he was not in complete control of his own government.

Osoba recounts a meeting with Babangida during his time as military president, where he and a few others fearlessly confronted him about the issues plaguing his administration.

The revelations were so damning that Babangida admitted, “Let me tell you boys, I am hostage to those who staged the coup and those who put me here. If I didn’t comply with their demands, they would remove me from power in an instant. There are no absolute powers.”

These closed-door discussions allowed Osoba and his colleagues to convey the unfiltered truth to the military leadership. The stories they subsequently wrote were not only based on facts but also carried the weight of the truths they had already shared with Babangida and his cohorts.

Surprisingly, Babangida and his administration tolerated their reporting, recognizing that they were acting as a conduit for the truth.
