A family of five in the Ajegunle area of Lagos lost their lives overnight due to inhalation of generator fumes.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, has left the community in mourning.

Residents of Oloyede Street were awakened by the distressing cries of a neighbor who discovered the lifeless bodies of Mr. Tubosun, his wife, and their three children.

The family, known for their friendly demeanor and active participation in the local community, was found unresponsive in their home, with the cause of death later determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning from their generator.

Eyewitnesses reported that the family had turned on their generator during the night due to a power outage, a common occurrence in the area. The generator, positioned close to a window, allowed the toxic fumes to seep into the house while the family slept.

It wasn’t until morning that the alarm was raised by a concerned neighbor who noticed the unusual quietness from the usually lively household.

Emergency services were promptly called to the scene, but it was already too late. Medical personnel confirmed that the family had succumbed to the fumes during the night.

The bodies have since been transported to the morgue for further examination.

The community of Ajegunle is now grappling with the loss of a well-loved family. Friends and neighbors have gathered to offer their condolences and support to the grieving relatives.
