In a heartbreaking and brutal incidents, a pregnant woman was raped and murdered in the early hours of this morning. The tragic event took place in Ekpoma, a quiet town now gripped by shock.
According to local sources, Mary Efosa, whose family is yet to be notified, was discovered in a secluded area of the town. She was reportedly en route to a nearby market when she was attacked.
Eyewitnesses who discovered the body alerted the local authorities immediately. The Edo state police command has since launched an investigation to apprehend the perpetrator(s) of this heinous crime.
The police have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist with investigation.
Local women’s rights organizations are rallying for swift action and increased protection for women in the area. Mrs. Osagie, leader of Women Advocates of Ekpoma, said, “This horrific acts highlights the urgent need for improved security measures and societal change. Women should not have to live in fear.”
