In a surprising turn of events, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has called on other commissioners to step down from their positions and unite with the party to build a prosperous state.
This call comes in the wake of the dismissal of Dr Samuel Alli as the Edo State Commissioner for Health by Governor Godwin Obaseki, which the APC sees as a clear admission of the failure of the Obaseki-led administration.
In a statement released by the Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council, the party expressed its disappointment with the scapegoating of Dr Alli, who had reportedly been reduced to a mere supervisor in the State Ministry of Health. The party criticized Governor Obaseki’s preference for consultants, which they believe is draining the state of its resources.
The statement further highlighted the government’s claim of resolute determination to deliver optimal service to the people in the remaining four months of the administration, calling it deceitful and deceptive.
The Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council emphasized that it is too late for Obaseki and the PDP to save themselves from the impending shame resulting from their failure to address the basic needs of the Edo people, including healthcare, education, food security, and infrastructure.
The party asserted that Governor Obaseki cannot magically complete the numerous unfinished projects that now resemble abandoned endeavors. Instead of searching for more scapegoats, the Edo APC Governorship Campaign Council called on Governor Obaseki to step aside and allow for a transitional government that can bring stability to the state.
In a direct message to other commissioners who have also been reduced to spectators in their ministries, the APC Campaign Council urged them to resign from their positions and join forces with other patriotic groups to reclaim the state from Obaseki and his group of consultants.
The party sees the candidacy of Asue Ighodalo as the solution to freeing the state from the grip of a personal enterprise.
