Nigerian Army troops operating in North-East and North-West have successfully foiled multiple kidnap attempts, neutralised one terrorist and rescued seven hostages.
A statement by the Nigerian Army on its official X handle, said troops on Tuesday 7 May, 2024 responded to actionable intelligence where they had an encounter with ISWAP fighters in Kulukawiya Village in the Nganzai local government area of Borno State.
Following the encounter, troops killed one terrorist and recovered one loaded AK-47 rifle.

The fleeing terrorists were subsequently pursued leading to the rescue of an abducted child.

The lad, the statement stated, has since been reunited with his father, Alhaji Musa.

In another operation in Kaduna State, troops swiftly responded to a distress call from Agunu Dutse Village in Kachia local government area.

The statement said residents of the community were besieged by terrorists but troops promptly arrived at the village to conduct a ‘search and rescue’ operation leading to the successful rescue of six hostages, including two women and four children.

The hostages were rescued unhurt and have been reunited with their families.

Similarly, troops on fighting patrol in Kaduna North local government area were alerted to the presence of terrorists lurking in Amale village.

The troops in collaboration with local vigilantes engaged the terrorists, compelling them to abandon their firearms.

One AK-47 rifle, a home-made gun, and a machete were recovered from the criminal elements.
