Zoho, a global technology business, has joined forces with She Code Africa in Nigeria to empower and upskill female tech professionals. Through their collaboration, Zoho aims to enhance the skills of women in technology by utilizing their low-code app creation platform, Zoho Creator.
As part of this initiative, Zoho will be conducting ‘Train the Trainer’ workshops for 30 female trainers from She Code Africa Academy. These workshops will take place at Zoho’s Lagos office and will provide comprehensive training on building enterprise-grade applications using low-code technologies.
Over the course of three days, the trainers will acquire the necessary expertise to train more students from She Code Africa in application development. This upskilling program aligns with Zoho’s global ‘Young Creators Program,’ which was introduced in 2022. The program aims to equip future business leaders with advanced digital skills while fostering technology-driven innovation.
In addition to the training, the participating trainers will receive one year of free access to the Zoho Creator platform, along with complete training materials. This will enable them to continue their learning journey and further enhance their skills in low-code development.
Kehinde O, the country head of Zoho Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting local communities by upskilling, recruiting local talent, and empowering local businesses through technology. Zoho’s growth strategy, known as transnational localism, focuses on nurturing talent and fostering innovation at the local level.
Maryblessing Okolie, the community manager at She Code Africa, expressed her satisfaction with the collaboration, highlighting its potential to help trainers stay updated on the latest advancements in low-code technology. This knowledge can then be shared with other students, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and skill development within the She Code Africa community.
The training program in Nigeria comes at a time when Zoho is expanding its presence across the African continent. In a recent interview with ITWeb Africa, the company revealed its plans to establish offices in various countries within the region. Furthermore, Zoho is actively hiring local talent for customer-facing positions, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the local workforce.
With over 100 million users, Zoho has become the first bootstrapped SaaS business to achieve this milestone. The company recognizes Africa as one of its fastest-growing regions and is dedicated to fostering its growth and technological development.
As Zoho continues to expand its reach, the company’s Ulaa web browser is expected to play a significant role in the future. With its commitment to empowering women in technology and its focus on localized growth, Zoho is poised to make a lasting impact within the African tech ecosystem.
