The Anambra State Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has officially ended its indefinite strike following constructive discussions with Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

This decision was reached during a Congress held on Thursday, July 25, at the Judiciary headquarters in Awka, where union members gathered to deliberate on the situation.

The announcement was communicated through a circular signed by JUSUN’s state chairman, Comrade Henry Ezeoke, and Secretary, Comrade Nwezi Ugochukwu, which was shared with the media and distributed to all relevant judiciary staff, including Directors, Deputy Directors, Assistant Chief Registrars, and Registrars.

The circular indicated: “Following the meeting between the Governor of Anambra State and the Executives of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) on July 24, concerning the Consolidated Judiciary Salary Structure (CONJUS)—a specific allowance for judiciary personnel—we hereby announce the suspension of our indefinite strike.”

The governor has committed to establishing a committee to address the CONJUS issue after the implementation of the new minimum wage in the state.

After thorough discussions during an emergency meeting on July 25, 2024, at the High Court of Justice in Awka, the Congress decided to suspend the ongoing strike.

In alignment with this resolution, all staff members of the Anambra State Judiciary are instructed to return to their duties on Friday, July 26, 2024.

It is worth noting that the strike began two weeks prior when the Union’s 14-day ultimatum to the government expired without a response.
