Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara has called on Nigerians to exercise patience as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration implements various initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for citizens.

The governor made this appeal during the first anniversary celebration of Oba Sarafadeen Adeniyi Babalola as the Onijagbo of Ijagbo land, held in Ijagbo, Oyun local government area. The event also marked the launch of the Ijagbo Palace Development Fund.

Abdulrazaq acknowledged that President Tinubu took office during a significant economic downturn, emphasizing the need for systematic reforms and public understanding. “The President is working diligently to address the challenges we face. It is crucial for us to extend our patience and support during this period,” he stated.

He further urged those contemplating protests to reconsider, reminding them that it is still early in the President’s term and that political ambitions should not rush assessments of his performance. “After just one year, it is premature to judge the administration’s effectiveness,” he added.

The governor congratulated Oba Babalola on his successful first year as a monarch, commending his efforts to foster unity and support the government’s initiatives. “The continued backing from the Ijagbo community and the broader state populace is vital for our collective success,” he remarked. “We are dedicated to enhancing access to essential infrastructure in Ijagbo and throughout Kwara State.”

Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Fagbemi, also spoke at the event, affirming that the federal government is committed to addressing the current economic difficulties and encouraged citizens to postpone any planned protests. He assured attendees that the benefits of President Tinubu’s transformative agenda would soon be evident.

Fagbemi expressed gratitude for the peaceful and impactful first year of Oba Babalola’s reign and thanked Governor Abdulrazaq for his administration’s support of the community.

In his address, Oba Sarafadeen expressed appreciation to the governor for his ongoing support, particularly regarding road infrastructure and educational resources. He acknowledged Abdulrazaq’s efforts in maintaining security in the state, noting that Kwara has remained relatively peaceful under his leadership.

The monarch also recognized the contributions of Prince Fagbemi, Senator Ashiru, and the Olofa of Offa for their guidance and support, which he credited with his community’s accomplishments over the past year. He revealed plans to establish a community secondary school to complement government efforts in education.
