The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has strongly condemned a violent attack that led to the death of four police officers and one civilian. This attack was carried out by gunmen believed to be members of the banned IPOB/ESN group. In response, CP Danjuma has sent out the command’s tactical units to find and capture those responsible for this crime.

The tragic incident occurred when the police officers were on their routine patrol along the Owerri-Onitsha express road at Irete. During the ambush, a civilian was also killed in the crossfire.

According to ASP Henry Okoye, the Police Public Relations Officer for Imo State, CP Danjuma quickly arrived at the scene after learning about the attack. He conducted an immediate assessment, ensured the bodies of the deceased were taken to the mortuary, and arranged for the injured civilian to be rushed to a nearby hospital where they are now receiving treatment.

CP Danjuma expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and pledged that the police would do everything possible to catch those responsible and bring them to justice. He emphasized that this attack is a brutal reminder of the dangers police officers face daily while protecting the public.

The Commissioner offered his condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the peaceful rest of their souls. He also appealed to the public, especially residents of Ogbakwu, to come forward with any information that could help the police capture the attackers.
