Mr. Ayoola Lawal, the ex-Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee of Diaspora Chairmen, has appealed to the Department of State Services (DSS) to disclose the identities of those funding the upcoming nationwide demonstrations.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Lawal emphasized the importance of transparency in this issue to foster public confidence and enable Nigerians to understand the underlying motives of the protest organizers.

He pointed out that the DSS’s recent alerts regarding the protests have raised considerable alarm among the public.

According to reports from NAN, the DSS released a statement on Thursday through its spokesperson, Mr. Peter Afunanya, indicating that the protests, aimed at addressing Nigeria’s economic struggles and governance concerns, are allegedly being influenced by specific individuals and groups for political purposes.

Lawal, who previously served as the APC Chairman in the Scandinavian region, expressed that identifying the sponsors would serve multiple functions.

“First and foremost, it will help determine whether these individuals or groups genuinely reflect the concerns and grievances of the Nigerian people, or if they are motivated by personal or political objectives,” he explained.

He reiterated that transparency is crucial for the public to differentiate between authentic calls for action and potential exploitation by those with ulterior motives.
