Honorable Popoola Yekeen, the former chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Oyo State, has urged Nigerians to refrain from actions that could divert President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s focus from steering the nation out of its current difficulties.

As a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Popoola emphasized the importance of citizens uniting behind the President and offering unwavering support.

In a statement released to the media, he warned against any protests that might hinder the country’s progress. “The ongoing initiatives and reforms implemented by the Tinubu administration signal a promising trajectory for Nigeria.”

“However, if we allow unnecessary distractions from those opposing progress, we may risk delaying the economic recovery we all desire. Advocating for disruptive protests at this juncture is a disservice to our nation,” he asserted.

Popoola further highlighted that the prevailing circumstances in Nigeria do not warrant the violent demonstrations being proposed.

“The so-called ‘Day of Rage’ could potentially lead to chaos and undermine the developmental efforts already underway. If such protests are permitted to unfold, the resilience and patience demonstrated by many Nigerians could be rendered meaningless.”

“This is why we urge the youth to abandon any thoughts of destructive protests to ensure that our collective efforts are not wasted,” Popoola stated.
