President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT)-led administration has been on their table since the announcement of the hunger strike scheduled to hold on August 1.

The latest development from verified sources announced this today of the plan by the present administration to restore pump price of petrol to N250 ahead of nationwide protest for hardship, bad governance in Nigeria holding tomorrow.

Steps So Far Taken By Tinubu Government As Hunger Protest Looms

1. Creation of centres where Nigerians can buy a 50kg bag of rice for N40,000.

2. Directive to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to sell crude to Dangote refinery and other upcoming refineries in naira.

3. Meetings with the ruling APC governors to discuss the growing calls for nationwide protests against hardship.

4. Suspension of import duties to cushion the effect of inflationary trends in Nigeria and removal of duties on the food importation.

5. Emergency meetings with traditional rulers and Islamic religious scholars to ensure the planned hunger protest, slated for August 1 to 10, is averted nationwide.

6. Unveiling of Youth Internship Scheme initiated by the NDDC for 10,000 youths of the Niger Delta region and approval for N50,000 monthly stipends for them.

7. Directive by Nigerian Communications Commission to telecommunications operators to restore all blocked phone lines due to the non-linkage of National Identification Numbers to SIM cards.

8. Signing of the new Minimum Wage Act into law.
