Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, has praised the robust bilateral relationship between Nigeria and China, highlighting its depth and longevity.
He noted that the partnership has significantly evolved over the years, with both countries collaborating to tackle shared challenges and pursue mutual interests.
In a statement released on Thursday by Mati Ali, his Personal Assistant and Publicity Officer, Badaru made these remarks during the 97th anniversary celebration of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the Chinese Embassy in Abuja.
He applauded the PLA for its remarkable resilience, strength, discipline, and commitment, which have established it as a powerful entity dedicated to protecting China’s sovereignty and facilitating its development.
“In the field of defence and security, our collaboration has been crucial in promoting mutual understanding and enhancing our joint capabilities to confront regional and global threats,” he stated.
Badaru further emphasized the strong partnership in defence and military cooperation, particularly in knowledge sharing, training, and technology transfers. He referred to these elements as foundational to both nations’ efforts to develop a more effective military framework.
He acknowledged the significant progress in the history of the People’s Republic of China, commending the PLA for evolving into a modern and technologically sophisticated military force.
The Minister reiterated Nigeria’s dedication to strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation, especially in the areas of defence and military affairs, urging collective action to address the complex challenges of the present day.
He also extended his warmest congratulations to the PLA on its momentous anniversary and expressed appreciation for the gesture of friendship.
