The Kaduna State government has revealed that it is facing a hefty financial burden, with debts surpassing N10 billion inherited from former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.

Recently inaugurated Governor Uba Sani has taken immediate action by instructing the Kaduna State Power Supply Company (KAPSCO) to assess and manage the outstanding financial obligations.

In a statement issued today, the state government confirmed that N7.5 billion of this debt has been verified and successfully paid off.

This payment signifies a major step in addressing the inherited liabilities, as the government now shifts its focus to resolving the remaining debts.

Governor Sani’s directive to KAPSCO reflects his administration’s commitment to handling financial matters with transparency and efficiency.

Additionally, the government emphasized that verifying and settling these debts is part of a broader strategy to manage the state’s finances prudently, ensuring that the transition from the previous regime is conducted with thoroughness and care.

Further updates regarding the outstanding balance and additional measures to tackle the financial challenges left by the El-Rufai administration are anticipated from the Kaduna State government.
