The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) has allocated over N2.5 billion in institutional fees to 12 universities across the country.

Nasir Ayitogo, the Fund’s spokesperson, announced on Friday in Abuja that this initiative has benefited 22,120 students.

Ayitogo emphasized that this effort aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for Nigerians. The disbursements are designed to alleviate financial constraints, ensuring that students in need can continue their studies.

Payments have been made according to the academic calendars of each institution, starting from the beginning of the session.

To date, six of the 12 institutions have received full payment, covering more than 20,000 students, with a total disbursement of approximately N2,026,163,340. The remaining six institutions are set to receive their payments in the coming week.

These funds will support students in continuing their academic activities without interruption, providing peace of mind for both students and their families.

Additionally, NELFUND has begun disbursing funds for student upkeep, with N442 million allocated for July. This initiative aims to cover living expenses for all 22,120 students across the 12 institutions, with more payments planned for the future.

Ayitogo highlighted that these efforts demonstrate the federal government’s commitment to the well-being and academic success of Nigerian students.

NELFUND’s dedication to removing financial barriers ensures that students can focus on their education and future careers.
