Spain and Barcelona wonder kid Lamin Yamal is currently leading the race for this year’s golden boy award.
Yamal who won the best young player of the tournament at the just concluded European Championship stirred Spain to glory as they clinched the converted trophy.
Yamal was instrumental as he played a key role en route to Spain’s success after breaking in as an academy graduate at Barcelona.
Coach Xavier gave the younger his debut last season and Yamal who turned 17 last month grabbed the opportunity with both hands by taking the world by storm.
In the August rating of the contenders for the award, Yamin Lamal at 17 years led with a 94.4 ranking.
Closely followed is Portugal superstar and Benfica’s revolution Joâo Neves with a ranking of 93.4 in second place.
Manchester United’s triplets of Alejandro Gernacho, Leny Yoro and Kobbie Mainoo are ranked 3rd, 4th and 7th respectively.
In June, Gernacho was leading the race but Yamal’s performance at the just concluded Euros has lifted the Barcelona academy graduate above the Argentine.
Both Gernacho and Mainoo were on National duties as England lost to Spain in the final which both Mainoo and Yamal featured and Gernacho won the Copa America with Argentina.
The three youngsters are highly rated by coach Erik Ten Hag as they currently are in Manchester for their Community Shield fixture against Premier League champions on Sunday.
