The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benneth Igweh, has initiated an immediate investigation into the death of a cross-dresser, popularly called Area mama, whose body was discovered on Thursday morning.The deceased was found along the Katampe-Mabushi Expressway in Abuja.
According to a statement by the FCT Command’s Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, a distress call was received at the Command Control Room on August 8, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m., reporting that an unidentified person was lying motionless along the expressway. Detectives were promptly dispatched to the scene.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the individual was a man dressed in female clothing, with no form of identification found on him.
The statement further disclosed, “He was immediately taken to Maitama District Hospital, where doctors on duty confirmed his death.”
Commissioner Igweh has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
