Dele Momodu, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the appointees of President Bola Tinubu of misleading Nigerians regarding the current economic situation in the country.

In a Thursday interview, Momodu claimed that while Tinubu’s aides publicly defend the administration, they privately express discontent and frustration about the state of governance.

Momodu, who supports the ongoing EndBadGovernance movement, expressed deep concern, stating, “Nigeria has never been in such dire straits.”

He continued, “Every Nigerian, including the aides of President Bola Tinubu, recognizes the existence of poor governance in our nation. They may not voice their opinions in front of him, but behind closed doors, they complain. Tinubu is my friend, and I’m here to tell him the truth: he is surrounded by deceivers. The situation in Nigeria has never been this dire.”

The former presidential candidate emphasized that he had hoped the president would initiate measures to reduce the cost of governance.

“I expect Tinubu to announce, ‘Today, I will be merging several ministries,’ as long as it aligns with the constitutional requirements for the number of ministries. It’s time to trim the excess,” he stated.

He further criticized the abundance of appointments, likening them to “popcorn” being handed out daily. “You can’t manage Nigeria the same way you managed Lagos State,” he concluded.
